The ABC has won
And Australia has lost
After 5 years of raging against the ABC's introduction of watermarks
I withdraw in defeat. I also withdraw the logofreeabc web site and
I have archived the original
home page in case it might be of historical interest.
There will be no more updates to this web site.
The quality of the ABC has deteriorated and the culture of the
company has been corrupted beyond redemption. A national treasure
of quality, reliability and stability has been lost forever. The
ABC now looks and sounds like a commercial station, with the
usual trappings of watermarks, popups, talk-overs, interruptions,
pseudo-advertising, time-leakage and repeats. The ABC news is now
sprinkled with spelling mistakes, mispronunciations, neologisms
and technical faults. This deterioration is mirrored perfectly on
radio station ABC 774.
All complaints to the ABC on any matter are ignored, or even worse,
met with a bluster and arrogance and then ignored. Don't bother
complaining to the ABC about anything, all you will get in return
via phone, fax, letter or email is a form letter response that ignores
anything you say.
I predict that within several years that our national broadcaster
will cease to exist as a distinct media outlet. The ABC became terminally
diseased during the end of the Howard government years, it's now
agonal and it will soon die.
